You are a very prolific producer – how many tracks do you have on your computer?Unfinished tunes would go into the hundreds. I'm pretty much making new stuff every day! Most of it just doesn't get polished up and released though!
Do you prefer remixing or writing originals or…? How do you approach them differently?I love doing both. Right now though I'm focusing more on originals as I've had a good run at the remix thing.. I do love remixing because in a way it's a way of collaborating your own material with that of the original artist.
And what is it that inspires you most, musically or otherwise?I get inspired by so many things, but honestly, music is still the thing that inspires me the most. A very close second would be love.
There’s a large element of rock in your music and performances- is that fair? Has that often been youraim?I just do what I do. I grew up playing in rock bands and listening to that kind of music, so naturally it's going to come through in what I do. Ijust be myself and let what happens happen.
How did you first hook up with mau5trap? Does Joel get involved with the music you make for his label?
It was actually Chris Lake who brought me into the fold when I moved to London last year. We're working on some original material for mau5trap in addition to the remix that I did for Joel.
You have collaborated a lot, too, why do you like that? Does it force you to work differently?I love creating under different conditions and collaborating is a way of doing that. I love working with people and having their input into the creative process. Also, it gets pretty lonely sitting in the studio all day with no one to talk to!!
What should people expect from you at the mau5trap Warehouse Party?I’m definitely going to play heavier and more underground than what I'd play at my normal club gigs. I'll still play a lot of my own material though, new and old.
What else have you got coming up?I have some collaborations with Sebastian Ingosso, A-Trak, Congorock. Also I have some originals happening on Musical Freedom and Refune!
What do you like to do outside of music? At this point in time, not a lot! It's pretty time consuming for me right now. I do love a game of table tennis or lawn bowls though!
On July 16, dance music icon Sharam returns with his much anticipated new mixed compilation, Night & Day on Yoshitoshi Recordings. Night & Day is the follow-up to Sharam’s critically acclaimed genre bending 2011 Warung Beach compilation and a unique look into the musical world of one of dance music’s most revered artists.
Anyone who’s attended a daytime DJ set recognizes that the party vibe when the sun is shining is completely different than what you experience late night in the club. Night & Day is split into two mixes that reflect Sharam’s unique approach to DJing parties both during the day and at night. After an extensive search through hundreds of tracks, Sharam’s ready to present his collection of the best-produced, cutting-edge music that works perfectly 24/7.
Night & Day features Sharam’s brand new original production “Radio G” (out July 9 and featuring special “Night” and “Day” mixes) & FTDK mix of his head turning track “God Always,” as well as exclusive edits, mashups and tracks/remixes from the likes of, Maceo Plex, Umek, Zeds Dead, Avicii, Shermanology, Nicole Moudaber, Dirty South, Armand Van Helden, Extrawelt, Monstar, Dirty Loud, Heren, Marco Bailey, Boris Dlugosh and more
“With Night & Day my aim was twofold: represent each type of party and its musical players (the artists, producers and remixers) and showcase what I do when I play this type of set to not only represent good music as I see it, but also to create a dialogue that music should not be played based on one's allegiance to a genre, but based on one's allegiance to the art form. The art of DJing for me has always been about creating a "party" and entertaining while educating the crowd with one goal in mind. People leaving with smiles on their faces… I hope that I've achieved that with this CD,” Sharam says.
Sharam is one of only few dance artists who effortlessly navigates between the nocturnal world of dance music with underground gems like “Crazi”, “Texi” and "Don't Say A Word" while scoring Top 20 Hits internationally with “PATT (Party All The Time)”, “The One” feat. Daniel Bedingfield, and “She Came Along” with Kid Cudi. In 2011 he unleashed his Mach EP releases that include “Love Love Love”, "M.I.T.T.", an underground favorite featuring a powerful vocal hook from Shakira, and “Fun” a song written by Chris Martin of Coldplay. More recently Sharam unleashed WMC head turner “God Always” and “Que Cubano”
Already beyond well known for his role as part of the legendary DJ duo Deep Dish, which brought the world huge hits like "Flashdance" and "Say Hello", he is also the driving force behind the legendary Yoshitoshi record label using it as a vehicle to promote newly discovered talent from around the world.

Marina and The Diamonds will release her new single ‘Power and Control’ on 9th July which follows the top 10 single ‘Primadonna’ and #1 album ‘Electra Heart’.
‘Power and Control’, written with Steve Angello from Swedish House Mafia and produced by Greg Kurstin, will be the next single to come from ‘Electra Heart’ and will be released on 9th July. With intellectual but witty lyrics about the pains of romance backed by eerily fun, electro synths, ‘Power and Control’ is a perfect track to showcase ‘Electra Heart’ which is an honest story of identity, love, rejection, doomed romance and hope all tinged with humour and British eccentricity.
The fantastic video for ‘Power and Control’ is Marina’s hottest video yet and can be seen below. Also listen here Michael Woods' Remix:
DJ, producer and creator of the “So, Happy in Paris ?” parties, Michael Canitrot lives for his fundamental passion, music, each week-end in the greatest nightclubs from Paris to Miami and from Barcelona to Tokyo.
Michael is sought after to create and direct custom sound designs for luxury brands such as Dior, Cartier, Versace, D&G, Prada, and the Crazy Horse cabaret, allowing him the opportunity to further his music in the most demanding contexts. It has been a great honour for him when the International Cannes Film Festival asked to him to imagine his own soundtracks for their Red Carpets and official parties.
Michael Canitrot's new single "Right On Me" feat. Polina will be released 2nd July on Believe Recordings.
Dutch DJ ZROQ’s newest single “Drop the Bass”, available today as a free download. It’s been live for 2 hours and the download rate is crazy! ZROQ's latest collab with Nicky “WTF” peaked at #2 on Beatport.
In the last year alone there’s been 2,000,000 YouTube views of Grant Smillie's (TV Rock) singles. His record label, Neon, boasts an assembly of platinum certified releases with multiple ARIA #1’s. His production outfit TV ROCK has gone to the top of the club charts in 6 countries gaining multiple Pete Tong spins on ‘The Essential Selection’ on UK’s BBC1.
The title “musical prodigy” is often reserved for a child or young person having extraordinary musical talent or ability – we call him Walden. In recent times our fresh-faced star has received praise from the biggest names in the business including the likes of Afrojack, A-Trak, David Guetta, Ian Carey, Tiesto, Tommy Trash and more.
The Melbourne-born dance/pop diva Zoë Badwi burst on to the scene in late 2008 with the huge club smash Release Me which became without doubt THE club record of the summer dominating the #1 spot on the ARIA Club Chart for 12 weeks. The record scored Zoë her first ARIA Award Nomination for BEST DANCE RELEASE and an array of fans and supporters from around the globe including Swedish House Mafia member Axwell, the Freemasons, Erick Morillo and BBC Radio 1's Judge Jules who have all sung it praises.
Fedde le Grand returns with his new track of 2012, the Nicky Romero collaboration ‘Sparks'. Set for release July 16th on Flamingo Recordings.
In just 2 weeks since the release this memorable summer anthem has already been aired at EURO 2012, featured in the Heineken TV commercial and played over 150 000 times on Youtube. Now get ready for the remixes from our heavyweight label residents: La Fuente and Avesta!
Systematically ripping up every dancefloor known to a man, La Fuente meanwhile finds time to kick off some crazy productions. His remix of We Are The Stars is a good old La Fuente drum-driven vibe spiced to the limit with some distorted electro lines and heavy synths. The anthemic mode is full on and the vocals get echoed to enhance the surround effect of "the field full of stars".
His accelerating success has no breaks when we speak of Avesta. After his latest "Rollin" on Mixmash there's no doubt this guy aims far. And his remix of We Are The Stars is another brilliant proof to that. Avesta enriches the original with a pack of loud drums and typical Avesta's insane drops putting some crazy sirens on top.
Expect "We Are The Stars" to continue dominating the festival wave this summer. The remixes package is due for release on the 2nd of July via Beatport.
