MYNC & Nicky Romero to release "Miami 2012" compilation on Cr2 Records

MYNC & Nicky Romero to release "Miami 2012" compilation on Cr2 Records

Cr2 Records are excited to announce their 2012 Miami WMC Compilation release – “Miami 2012 – mixed by MYNC and Nicky Romero.” Launched in 2007, Cr2 Live & Direct compilations have showcased the most cutting edge house music from some of the world’s leading DJ / Producers including Dirty South, Micky Slim, Oscar G, Harry 'Choo Choo' Romero & Jose Nunez, Arno Cost & Norman Doray, Danny Rampling and MYNC.
This year Cr2 pull out all of the stops and bring together two heavyweight names to come  ‘Back 2 Back’ to mix up a selection of some of the current big-room club sounds rocking clubs around the world as well as showcasing over 15 brand new, unreleased tracks. On mix one, MYNC brings the Miami flavor right away by dropping the Miami VIP version of Chuckie’s party anthem “What Happens In Vegas” and winds his way through south beach with tracks from Lunde Bros, Pierce Fulton, Nilson, Azari & III and of course, MYNC, among others. Nicky Romero’s mix features a combination of his own original productions, remixes, DJ favorites and a brand new exclusive club track entitled “Se7en.” It’s all out big-room madness with huge sounds from Nicky and friends including Hardwell, Sandro Silva & Quintino, R3hab & Swanky Tunes vs Hard Rock Sofa, Afrojack and Albin Myers, among others.
2011 was another stellar year for MYNC. Their collaboration with Space Ibiza resident Wally Lopez “Esa Boca Linda” was a summer revelation reaching a coveted Top 10 spot on Beatport and #1 on the Tech House Chart. Their massive “Don’t Be Afraid” (with Ron Carroll & Dan Castro) was played a staggering three weeks in a row by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show, while official remixes of Avicii’s anthem “Fade Into Darkness, ATB with Amurai Ft Melissa Loretta “Heartbeat,” Jason Derulo “Fight For You” and Azari & III “Reckless With Your Love” all received widespread acclaim. 2012 is already looking jam-packed for the London based producers with gigs lined up in Australia, Brazil, Spain, Portugal & the US and more productions and remixes on the way.
Nicky Romero can also look back at the last 12 months with satisfaction. 2011 saw Nicky release a string of Club Bombs that just got better and better as the year progressed. Any DJ will testify that his original tracks such as “Camorra” and “Toulouse” or remixes of Green Velvet, Tiësto, Flo-Rida and David Guetta will tear off the roof in any club. Top names like Tiësto, Fedde Le Grand, David Guetta and Sander Van Doorn all often feature tracks by Nicky in their sets and Nicky has quickly become one of the hottest, most sought after producers and remixers on the planet today.
MYNC and Nicky Romero will celebrate the release of this compilation with a massive party in South Beach during Miami Music week. More info to come.

Skrillex won 3 Grammy Awards

The 54th Annual GRAMMY Awards was a night of exhilarating performances, inspired tributes, and emotional acceptance speeches. Big winners included British singer Adele, veteran rockers the Foo Fighters, dubstep producer Skrillex and country superstar Taylor Swift.

Electronica artist Skrillex also had a big night, winning three awards. Skrillex -- real name Sonny Moore -- kept popping back up on the stage with utter excitement during the 2012 awards pre-telecast show, which featured the handing-out of the genre categories not covered by main telecast. The electronica artist/DJ picked up Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Dance Recording for "Scary Monsters And Nice Sprites" and its title track, respectively, on top of Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for the song "Cinema" (in conjunction with Benny Benassi).

The first time up, Moore thanked the EDM communtiy. "All the boats rise at the water," he said, referring to electronic music. He described making his album in illegal warehouse space in L.A., smiling as his straight black hair bounded away from the shaved side of his head, black glasses matching the rest of his all-black-everything of his outfit.

Kris Menace - Falling Star

Kris Menace - Falling Star

Future House and LCD Soundsystem remixer releases the first single from his forthcoming album 'Electric Horizon' which is accompanied by this colourful video. The track is released on March 5th.

'Falling Star' and upcoming album both will be released on his label Compuphonic. He explained: "I always was a self-made-kinda-boy, so i always tried to keep everything about the production of my music in my own hands. I know that i would get more exposure if I would have released on another label, but with digital worldwide distribution and the small phsyical market, I opted to keep my work in-house. I worked and released with so many labels in the scene over the past few years; I just didn't feel I needed some of the baggage that can come along with the major labels at times."

Laidback Luke, Arno Cost & Norman Doray - Trilogy [Mixmash]

Arno Cost, Norman Doray & Laidback Luke - Trilogy

When three legendary DJs/Producers decide to team up to create a track which will DESTROY the dance floors it can only have one name… TRILOGY!

This track will make you feel a mixture of bounciness, hardcore vibrancy and progressive house chords like never heard before. Through the winning combination of Laidback Luke, Arno Cost and Norman Doray, each of them is able to bring their own signature sound to Trilogy. For the brilliant trio 2011 was one busy year. Luke launched his trendsetting Turbulence, Natural Disaster, Who's Wearing The Cap. Arno exploded the dancefloors with his own "The Days To come" and remixed the likes of Martin Solveig (Ready To Go), Moby (Lie Down In Darkness), David Guetta (Titanium). In between his heavily scheduled gigs, Norman Doray has managed to co-produce the huge summer anthem "Chase The Sun", mind-blowing "Kalifornia" and remixed David Guetta (Little Bad Girl).

The new collaboration "Trilogy", formerly known as ‘Yummie’, now shows a lot more depth due to the fusion of different elements and styles of its authors. It’s as if it was given a sexy and fresh transformation to become a new rave-monster kindly adopted by Mixmash Records.

The original mix will come out on the 20th of February through Beatport via Mixmash Records! Are you ready for this?

“Morgan Geist has influenced more than a generation of electronic music lovers” say Jamie Jones of Giest’s influence on the scene. “Hearing the Metro Area stuff for the first time over a decade ago was one of the most memorable and inspiring moments for me as a music lover and aspiring producer. The remix was a real challenge” he continues “the vocal is very distinctive and powerful, but also the lyrics are quite sad, so it was not an easy task to decide what to do with them. In the end I did something simple that I felt would work well in my DJ sets.”

Widely regarded as one of the best house and disco DJs on the scene, Dimitri From Paris’s Erodiscomix takes things on an old school Chicago house tip, with a twist of disco keys thrown in for good measure.

“I think Morgan Geist (with Darshan Jesrani as Metro Area) really helped establish on a global scale the synth Disco sound among the House crowd and beyond in the 00s, something that is now widely accepted as ‘Nu-Disco’” he says. “Credit has also got to go to the original 90s pioneers, most notably DJ Harvey, The Idjut Boys and Danny Wang.

“In terms of the remix then yes, it is always difficult to tackle something that has a bit of a cult following. I usually stick on overhauling the original production when I do a remix, but in this case it didn't need any! So I set to venture into a different interpretation. The beautiful vocal had tones of old school Chicago House and that became the starting point of my version, blending some of the intricate original synth parts with new, clonky, House piano patterns.”

Aeroplane’s Vito De Luca also took the original in a completely new direction. “I tried to do something completely different, as the original was perfect and didn't need anything” he says of his interpretation. “So I stripped it down to dry vocals, and simple disco production to let the vocal take the whole space, as I thought the vocal performance was essential to the track.”

Dusky - Lost Highway/Three Colours/Someone Like You [Anjunadeep]

Dusky - Lost Highway/Three Colours/Someone Like You [Anjunadeep]

Since the release of their debut album "Stick By This", Dusky aka Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman have emerged as the bright hopes of the UK house scene. Jamie Jones opened his DC10 closing party set with their track "Tyto Alba", Pete Tong has been caning their album tracks, while eclectic tastemakers like Bestival's Rob Da Bank and Zane Lowe have also been giving them mainstream radio support.
Having already been played as an Essential New Tune contender on Pete Tong's Radio 1 show, "Lost Highway" is a deep house classic in the making from the duo. With a deep, driving groove, sublime subtle melodies and a soaring, string-laden breakdown that rides atop trademark cut-up vocal samples, "Lost Highway" recently featured on DJ Magazine's Best Of British cover mount CD and will also be showcased on the forthcoming "Anjunadeep:04" compilation.
Veering towards a more bass-driven deep house sound, "Three Colours" weaves another deeply layered journey from washing melodic touches, trademark soulful vocal samples and chimes.
On a package that is all about groove and musicality, "Someone Like You" is the perfect closer. Bringing down the tempo, this soulful slow-mo house jam is full of hypnotic depth and has echoes of Jamie Woon in its subtle male vocal.
Also included is Hugga Thugg's deep house rework of "Lost In You" - winner of the recent remix competition.
