Beatport Featured Releases: Week 53 - 2009

Exclusive Featured Releases

Depeche Mode officially joins Beatport with the release of a special double a-side single, 'Fragile Tension' and 'Hole To Feed'. The release is outstanding, and it comes complete with remixes from the hottest producers at the moment. The Beatport version includes huge mixes from Laidback Luke, Stephan Bodzin and Paul Woolford, and we're absolutely excited to support Depeche Mode! A guaranteed smash!

Dennis Ferrer's 'Sinfonia Della Notte' has been a staple in sets for DJs of various styles throughout the summer. The new mix package features John Dahlbäck who brings the noise with powerful arpeggiating synths. Gel Abril adds in some deepness and Afterlife deliver a chilled affair with live drums and serious verb giving a true ambient vibe.

Claes Rosen, they call him "the man of melodies". His first claim to fame was the amazing 'Eighties' track on the Jackmoves label back in 2005, which was subsequently caned by all big names. 'Milky Way' is in Claes' recognizable style: funky & silky progressive house with a bit of 80's influence. 'A Bit Odd' still keeps main funky lines but this time with bit of a deeper & darker groove.

Brand spankin' new remixes of Dubfire's hit 'Rabid' have arrived. The 'Radio Slave's Remix' has an electronic throb and eerie feel overall, with a repetitive vocal and creepy sounds used to maximum effect. 'Edit Select' on the flip comes in at a warmer vibe, but still equally as volatile. It's steady, and continually builds and builds, creating a sense of tension and excitement. The release also comes with additional stems for those who want to do some cheeky remixing and edits on the fly.

'Blame Dodger' was originally released on Magik Johnson's outstanding 'You Are Sound' full length from last year, and has returned with an impressive updated remix from electro house pimp, HiJack. All the catchy elements from the original are intact, including the spoken word from Morning Star, but with a bigger room fidget house edge. We love the cut and paste chunky funk vibes from this remix, and are still absolutely impressed with the original. Essential.

Originally released on Blackwiz back in 2005, this time around Sandy Rivera gives it a revamp for 2010 while retaining the integral Moorish flavor of the original. Sandy works his sultry house style with an infectious synth line beneath the Balearic hook. This fourth release from Blackwiz is destined for the dark corners of the club.

Spotlight Features

DJ Pierre is the legendary Chicago acid house pioneer. From his groundbreaking singles 'Acid Trax' and 'The Horn Song', to his remixes of Simian Mobile Disco and Missy Elliot, Pierre continues to shape the sound of music today. His unique blend of electro/techno/nu-school acid is called "Afro Acid" which is also the name of his edgy label. Check out Pierre's latest release; a rework of the track originally released by super group Justice called 'Stress or Justice'.

Chicago's Funktion Recordings has been in business since 2001, owned and operated by Josh The Funky 1 & Gus Calderone. Over the years, they have provided superb house music across all forms, from the steady pulse of funky disco looped grooves, to progressive monsters and electro house bangers. Check out their latest release 'Best Of 2009' for a great view into what they were all about this year. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

And remixes EP with massive Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike remix. Get it here!

Dave Lambert started out in 1990 with his own party concept in PARADOX (Antwerp/Belgium). The events he started out with were merely focused on rock music! Back in the early days he played music from bands such as The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Biohazard, Pearl Jam and many more. As he got older he evolved into a more underground house style in clubs around Antwerp Belgium. It was at one of these nights he got spotted by the owner of a place called LE BEAU ZOO (1998) and was immediately asked to come and play on a regular basis. Right from the start he created a special vibe which let to enormous respect from famous Djs such as Marko (La Rocca), Pippi (Ibiza), and Oliver (Amnesia Ibiza). This also let to the creation of his first mixed compilations for Le Beau Zoo, Delano and Chill Music by Coca Cola!
It all started snowballing from that day forward! Dave Lambert started playing notorious party concepts like Antwerp Is Burning, Cruises To Pleasure, Ibiza Reunion and many more!.. At LE RÈVE D’O in Tournai Belgium, Dave Lambert started a new residency on Friday in 2000! So not only the Flemish part but also the French part of Belgium started to fall for Dave Lambert’s sound! In those days Dave played a wide range of music between House and Tech house and some tribalism stuff with a progressive feel and on special occasions a deep house lounge set was not impossible for him. During that period the owner of one of Belgium’s most talked about clubs, Zillion, offered him a residency during the GOLDEN nights. GOLDEN was a UK organization that brought ZILLION the crop of the cream of tastemaker DJ’s like Seb Fontaine, Paul van Dyk, Tall Paul, Ruff Drivers, Sander Kleinenberg and many more. After the closure of LE BEAU ZOO Dave also started playing on the more Trance orientated Saturdays in Zillion! Although he didn’t really play trance the ZILLION crowds took Dave Lambert in its arms which let to a more groove and progressive orientated Saturday! This was a turning point in Dave’s career as this high profiled club made him known all over Belgium and abroad! Dave started playing clubs like Space (Ibiza), Velfarre (Japan), Kadoc (Portugal), Colossus (Lloret Del Mar - Spain) and more!
Dave stayed in Zillion till its unfortunate closure in October 2001! He didn’t immediately take another residence and started playing more events and high class events till the day that VERSUZ offered him a new residence on Saturday. VERSUZ is located in Hasselt/Belgium a town near the German and Dutch border and has a +4000 capacity! VERSUZ is currently one of Europe’s super clubs! On Saturday Dave is accompanied by residents Tom Leclerq and B who create the ideal atmosphere for Dave to take over the wheels of steel. On a regular basis VERSUZ also invited guest such as Pete Tong, Bob Sinclar, Armand van Helden, David Guetta, Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Todd Terry, Steve Angello, Axwell and many more! Not only the club is at its maximum capacity every Saturday but also the compilations mixed and compiled by Dave Lambert are one of Belgium’s best selling CD’s! Also abroad VERSUZ with resident Dave Lambert profiles itself as a super club and hosted the inside room of Space Ibiza in 2002 on Friday mornings with TONIC (Alex P and Brandon Block) on the terrace. Also KADOC Portugal saw the Dave Lambert sound hitting them on Sunday evenings during the summer season! VERSUZ is a way of life nicely created by the DJs and staff! Besides his VERSUZ residency Dave also plays a lot of festivals like eg. NATURE ONE Germany, Tomorrow Land, Rave On Snow Austria, Extrema Solar Holland, The closing party of the Belgian City Parade and many more!
In 2006 Dave also headlined Europe’s famous SENSATION WHITE event besides Tom De Neef, Darren Emerson, MIKE and Marco V! It’s surely was one of the highlights in his career as it was held in his hometown of Antwerp!
Dave also holds a monthly residency in one of Belgium’s most famous clubs LA ROCCA! Every first Sunday of the month Dave spins the best progressive, minimal house tunes available! LA ROCCA is like an institute for HOUSE clubbing opening it’s doors 19 years ago!!
Together with his studio partner Elektrokid Dave also makes records that have followers of their sound all over the globe! ‘Yeah’ was Dave Lambert’s first own production and was released in 2005 and was a success beyond imagination. ‘Yeah’ was played by the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Andy Cato (Groove Armada), Deep Dish and many more! The Follow up for Yeah was a remake from Lipps Inc Funky town which led to plays from the more groove orientated jocks like Stonebridge, Erick Morillo and more! Production wise the future looks bright as reactions on remixes for Mason, Fedde Le Grand, Wonderland Avenue, Junkie XL and several others also take Dj land by storm and then we didn’t even mention ‘House In Play’ which entered the COOLCUT charts in the UK and even entered the MEGA TOP 100 in Holland up to N°38! Currently Dave is working with several producers like HOUSETRAP & SIR G Together with HOUSETRAP he’s releasing ‘Come Back and Stay’ in October 2007! He also has several new productions to see the day of light soon and besides remixing MASON with Mr. Housetrap he’s also producing a new release with vocals from MISS BUNTY!! With SIR G & singer TERRI B he also hit the studio to make a new house track that will take the world by storm
