Beatport Featured Releases: Week 53 - 2009
Exclusive Featured Releases
Depeche Mode officially joins Beatport with the release of a special double a-side single, 'Fragile Tension' and 'Hole To Feed'. The release is outstanding, and it comes complete with remixes from the hottest producers at the moment. The Beatport version includes huge mixes from Laidback Luke, Stephan Bodzin and Paul Woolford, and we're absolutely excited to support Depeche Mode! A guaranteed smash!
Dennis Ferrer's 'Sinfonia Della Notte' has been a staple in sets for DJs of various styles throughout the summer. The new mix package features John Dahlbäck who brings the noise with powerful arpeggiating synths. Gel Abril adds in some deepness and Afterlife deliver a chilled affair with live drums and serious verb giving a true ambient vibe.
Claes Rosen, they call him "the man of melodies". His first claim to fame was the amazing 'Eighties' track on the Jackmoves label back in 2005, which was subsequently caned by all big names. 'Milky Way' is in Claes' recognizable style: funky & silky progressive house with a bit of 80's influence. 'A Bit Odd' still keeps main funky lines but this time with bit of a deeper & darker groove.
Brand spankin' new remixes of Dubfire's hit 'Rabid' have arrived. The 'Radio Slave's Remix' has an electronic throb and eerie feel overall, with a repetitive vocal and creepy sounds used to maximum effect. 'Edit Select' on the flip comes in at a warmer vibe, but still equally as volatile. It's steady, and continually builds and builds, creating a sense of tension and excitement. The release also comes with additional stems for those who want to do some cheeky remixing and edits on the fly.
'Blame Dodger' was originally released on Magik Johnson's outstanding 'You Are Sound' full length from last year, and has returned with an impressive updated remix from electro house pimp, HiJack. All the catchy elements from the original are intact, including the spoken word from Morning Star, but with a bigger room fidget house edge. We love the cut and paste chunky funk vibes from this remix, and are still absolutely impressed with the original. Essential.
Originally released on Blackwiz back in 2005, this time around Sandy Rivera gives it a revamp for 2010 while retaining the integral Moorish flavor of the original. Sandy works his sultry house style with an infectious synth line beneath the Balearic hook. This fourth release from Blackwiz is destined for the dark corners of the club.

His unique blend of electro/techno/nu-school acid is called "Afro Acid" which is also the name of his edgy label. Check out Pierre's latest release; a rework of the track originally released by super group Justice called 'Stress or Justice'.
Chicago's Funktion Recordings has been in business since 2001, owned and operated by Josh The Funky 1 & Gus Calderone.
